Entry Requirements

  • Official transcripts, translated to English, for coursework completed outside of the U.S. for secondary school and post-secondary institutions (if applicable)
  • Minimum GPA of 2.50
  • One letter of recommendation
  • Personal essay and short answer question

  • Proof of English proficiency through one of the options below
  1. TOEFL: Average score of 75-85 (minimum of 71)
  2. IELTS: Average score of 6.0-6.5 (minimum of 6.0)
  3. SAT: Critical Reading score of 450 or higher
  4. ACT: Reading score of 20 or higher
  5. English is native language (some exceptions apply)
  6. Successfully complete Level 4 in UNCW’s ESL program.
  7. Level 4 participants must maintain a 3.0 GPA and have an attendance rate above 85 percent while in the ESL program.
  8. Two college-level courses of English composition at a U.S. college or university with a “B” or higher (transfer students only).
